Medimachine II

The Medimachine System offers standardized and efficient sample preparation to obtain viable cell suspension from solid tissue.

The Medimachine II Dissociator is a desktop instrument, designed to provide both gentle tissue dissociation and fine homogenization using appropriate disposable devices with different technical features according to the required procedure.

Single-cell suspensions are a crucial prerequisite to achieving reliable results in cell separation, cell analysis, and cell culture. Moreover, the Medimachine II can be used for the homogenization of cells and tissues to extract biomolecules for molecular biology or protein biochemistry applications.

The instrument has an interactive touch-screen for the selection of operation mode and for consulting the onboard manual. This specific screen has been selected for use wearing lab gloves. The software offers multilingual settings and two modes: manual and automatic. A number of programs have been specifically developed and customized programs can be added.

Consumables

Prypcons B

  • Single use disposable
  • Minimum package: 48 units/box
  • Works with FASTH21 or Medimachine II
  • It works between 1ml & 5ml of total volume (sample + solvent)

Samples :

  • Lymph nodes & similar

Medicons Max

The Medicon Max is a disposable disaggregator with 50µm separator screens. Like the Medicon it has a high-density polyethylene casing and can be sterile and non-sterile.
The stainless steel inner is made up of a fixed screen with about 250 hexagonal bore-holes, around each of which there are 6 microblades. It requires a 16 ml liquid solution.

Filcons Max

The Filcons-Max, a disposable filter for separating cells and nuclei, has a porous membrane with an effective surface area of 660 mm2, enabling larger quantities of cell suspensions to be filtered than with the Filcons.

The microporous polyethylene funnel section is designed to pass the biological material to be retrieved while trapping waste particles over 1.5μm in size.

Filcons-Max are only available as cup-type. They fit perfectly to 50 ml tubes. All packages contain 100 units. Non-sterile Filcon-Max are packed in 20 units/bag, sterile Filcon-Max are packed 1 unit/blister.

Prypcons

  • Single use disposable
  • Minimum package: 48 units/box
  • Works with FASTH21 using proper adapter (code 82030) or Medimachine II
  • It works between 1ml & 5 ml of total volume (sample + solvent).

Samples :

  • Brain, bone marrow & similiar
  • Honey, yoghurt, milk & similar
  • Fresh leaves, grass, cotyledones & similar

FOODcon7

  • Single use disposable

Filcons

Filcons are disposable filters for separating cells and nuclei. The porous membrane enables large quantities of cell suspensions to be filtered. The microporous polyethylene funnel is designed to pass the biological material while trapping waste particles.

There are two types of Filcons: a syringe-fitting form that can be used with either suction or compression, which works well for quantities over 5 mL, and a cup type that works well for lesser quantities.

Medicons

This disposable disaggregator is available with 35µm or 50µm separator screens. It has a high-density polyethylene casing and can be sterile and non-sterile. The internal mechanical part is in stainless steel and is made up of a fixed screen with about 100 hexagonal bore-holes, around each of which there are 6 microblades. It requires a 1 ml liquid solution.

FAQ

Have a Question?

Cytometry – A gentle cut of solid tissue at low speed utilizing two chambers to keep safer and healthy live cells and a liquid load and withdrawal fitting.

Homogenization – An aggressive cut by rotating blades at very high speed utilizing one chamber to take advantage of convective flow to the blades, and a large space to insert the sample plus solvent and withdraw the liquid sample after the run

The Medimachine II requires a flat surface with dimensions 250 mm × 400 mm and a power connection. To operate the instrument, the keyboard area and the top of the instrument must be accessible. The Medimachine II is a plug & play instrument.

The Medimachine II must be stored and operated under dry conditions (non-condensing humidity). Storage temperature must be between –15 °C and +70 °C. The instrument should be operated at a temperature between +5 °C and +45 °C.

During the lifetime of the instrument no calibration is necessary. To check the quality of the instrument, the Medimachine II must be sent to C.T.V.S. srl. In case of malfunction, except for the replacement of fuses, the device must be sent to the supplier for repair / replacement. For instructions on how to replace the fuses on MEDIMACHINE II refer to the User Manual. Unless otherwise mentioned in the C.T.S.V. srl documentation, do not service the equipment yourself. Service needed on components inside the instrument must be carried out only by personnel trained and authorized by C.T.S.V. srl.

In the event of a System error 01 switch off from the main switch and after 10 seconds switch on again. If the Medimachine II does not switch on, check if the power cord is connected and the main switch is on. If it is connected and the switch is on but the instrument remains off, please proceed with fuse replacement as described in the manual. For any other issues and troubleshooting please contact the supplier or authorized technical service.

In case of proper operation of the device, cleaning is not required. In case of abnormal operation of the disposables, with possible leakage, it is recommended to clean the outside of the machine, using a cloth moistened with sodium hypochlorite. In case of spillage or contamination, clean the instrument appropriately. For decontamination, use 70% ethanol or a 1% hypochlorite solution.

The Medimachine II shall be disposed of according to the biosafety level of its use. Potentially contaminated parts must be sterilized before being disposed of, according to local laboratory regulations. Decontamination is within the responsibility of the operator of the instrument. Contaminated instruments or contaminated parts of the instrument must not be sent or given to any person.

The proper handling of the Medimachine II disposable minimizes exposure to the samples. However, potential hazards to the operator still exist. The operator must choose and wear personal safety equipment in accordance with warnings and precautions for the used substances. Defective or inadequate safety equipment might endanger the operator.

The Medimachine II must be operated within a safety enclosure when hazardous or unknown materials are processed, to protect persons and the laboratory environment from contamination.
All liquid and solid waste must be considered biohazardous and, therefore, must be handled taking universal laboratory precautions. All clinical samples must be considered potentially infectious.

Toxic or corrosive chemicals, poisonous, acidic, or radioactive substances may be present.
It is strictly prohibited for anyone other than the operator to handle contaminated accessories or contaminated parts of the Medimachine II.
